Common reasons people call

  • Cracked or sunken driveway
  • Weeds coming through block paving
  • Wanting off-road parking
  • Puddles that won't drain
  • Tired tarmac

What to expect

An installer will measure up, look at levels and drainage, and talk through materials. Most of the cost is in the digging out and base, which is what makes a drive last.

Most driveways take 3 to 7 days.

Questions

The things people ask.

Do I need planning permission?

Usually not if it's permeable (lets water through) or drains to a lawn or border. Non-permeable drives over 5m² at the front may need it.

What's a dropped kerb?

It's the lowered kerb that lets you drive onto your property legally. Your council has to approve it.

Which material lasts longest?

Block paving and resin both last well when the base is done properly. Gravel is the cheapest but needs topping up.
